A very enjoyable experience visiting the shop twice for my daughter to play many piano's and make her choice. Gordon is very friendly and helpful with no sales pressure. The baby grand she chose was delivered, installed promptly and without issue. I can highly recommend a visit to see both new and great quality used piano's. Many many thanks, my daughter is over the moon.
A really great experience getting our piano from Gordon. He was friendly, professional, and went above and beyond to make sure we got a piano we’re delighted with (at a fantastic price). Really couldn’t ask for better service. Would highly recommend.
Great service. Date and time arranged beforehand. Bought my piano years ago off Gordon Bell pianos and had no issues. He arrived yesterday to tune it. All friendly and professional. Highly recommend.
This is a skilled service. The practical work was careful and efficient, and there is clearly plenty of experience behind it. The area that could be improved is communication. A few simple things would help a great deal, such as acknowledging email enquiries, even with an automated reply, and sending a short message before arriving with a piano or when collecting from the pick up point. Clear information about which services are offered would also be very useful. After some emailing back and forth, I was informed that tuning is not offered for older pianos by this company. When I asked about tuning after the delivery, the answer I received was simply that they did not tune pianos at all, without any explanation, despite the website stating that tuning is offered. It would have been helpful to know from the beginning that older pianos are not taken on for tuning, as it would have set expectations and avoided confusion. These are small details, but they change how customers feel and help to avoid misunderstandings. The quality of the work is good. With clearer communication, the overall experience would feel much more welcoming and reassuring. As a final note, reviews are part of any business. A reply should address the points raised, not make personal remarks about the customer, their character, or suggest motives for leaving feedback. That sort of response feels unprofessional and unnecessary, and it distracts from the very real concerns being expressed.
Last week my daughter had her Grade 7 exam at Gordon Bell, and it was a refreshing change from previous test venues — in my mind, a much better one. The moment you walk in, you’re greeted by a display of beautiful pianos of all sizes, which instantly lifts your mood from the dull, dark winter gloom outside. It’s like being a chocolate lover walking into Hotel Chocolat! The shop itself is tastefully decorated, and you can really see the pride and care the owner has put into it. Spread over three floors, each level feels like stepping a little further into a woodland trail — you never quite know what delightful surprise you’ll find next. The exam experience was smooth. My daughter was able to practise beforehand, and the rooms are well soundproofed so I couldn’t hear how she got on. The steward was warm, welcoming, and reassuring. You do see other nervous students around, but only a handful, so it never feels chaotic or overwhelming. I much prefer this venue to the previous Boys’ Brigade building — it’s cosy, warm, and full of character compared to the cold, tired setting before. I don’t know the owner personally, but from their Facebook page you really get a sense of his wholeheartedness and passion for what he does. I noticed another review from a parent who didn’t have a good exam experience, but I feel that’s a little unfair. If the issue was with the exam arrangements, it should really be taken up with the exam board. Leaving a very low rating without properly experiencing the shop as a business feels thoughtless and doesn’t reflect what this place truly offers. Overall, Gordon Bell is a wonderful venue and a truly lovely piano shop — warm, inspiring, and clearly run with care.
Gordon Bell's communication and prompt replies made booking a piano move straight forward, after being let down by another company. I will use Gordon for my moves in the future and I highly recommend him.
Just had my mothers piano moved by Gordon Bell. It was a challenging move down a tight staircase which had a spiral in it. I was very impressed that they managed. Even more so that not a swear word was heard ! Very professional from start to finish. Highly recommended. Nick Campbell.
